The shortlist for the RTÉ Choice Irish song of the year has been announced.

THE SHORTLIST FOR the RTÉ Choice Irish song of the year has been announced.

The list features high profile top Irish acts as well as some lesser known ones.

Niall Horan, Raglans, Walking on Cars and The Coronas all feature this year round.

The list in full is:

  • The Coronas – What a love (Island)
  • Hare Squead – If I Ask (Sony)
  • Heroes in Hiding – Hospital (Self Released)
  • Niall Horan – This Town (Capitol)
  • James Vincent McMorrow – Rising Water (Faction)
  • Picture This – Take my Hand (Warner Music)
  • Raglans – Who Knows (Self Released)
  • Saint Sister – Tin Man (Communion)
  • Soulé – Love No More (Diffusion Labs)
  • Walking on Cars – Ship Goes Down (Virgin/EMI)

The RTÉ Choice Music Prize has entered its 12th year running.

People are able to vote for their favourite song through the website.

Voting closes at midnight on Sunday 5 March. The winning song will be announced at the RTÉ Choice Music Prize live event, held in Vicar Street, Dublin on Thursday 9 March.

An event is being held tonight in the Workman’s Club in Dublin to celebrate the shortlist being released.

The winning act will receive €10,000, a prize fund which has been provided by The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA)

RTÉ released the shortlist for the Irish Album of the Year last month.
